The Lovers ~ Lovebirds of the World Unite!
Tarot Tuesday! The card for the week is The Lovers, representing: Love, attraction, union, alchemical marriage, and becoming conscious through relationship!
Adam and Eve—or in this case, two lovebirds—are shown in the Garden of Eden. It is the eating of the forbidden apple, the fruit from the "Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil" that causes The Lovers to be cast out of paradise. Once they tasted the fruit, in a sense, they knew too much. It was through their awakened desire for experience that they became aware of their nakedness--and their vulnerability.
We may wish for the blissful Eden-like innocence of romantic love. Yet in romantic or idealized love there is little room for growth and learning. The Lover’s is all about learning! The hook that keeps us there moment to moment, day to day, through the most difficult of lessons, is love.
What is love? Astrologer Richard Idemon describes it as “a force that brings two or more separate entities together in a way that they are totally transformed.” Eros is deep and passionate love—a creative force. Through Eros we create life. And in its presence, from the heights of intimacy to the lows of longing and despair we are transformed.
Wishing you a transformative and love-filled week!
