The High Priestess ~ Commune with Your Inner Moon!
Tarot Tuesday! The card for the week is The High Priestess, representing: Contemplation, reflection and sacred knowledge. This High Priestess (from the Wild Unknown Tarot) portrays her as a Tigress with a crescent moon above her and a magical orb (a crystal ball?) in her grasp. The Tigress symbolizes our primal instincts, our deepest feelings and emotions.
Note, this fierce Tigress is in relaxed pose: she knows there is no action required at this time. Instead she is gathering her power by taking time to commune with the moon, her deepest self, her soul energies.
The High Priestess is a creature of darkness, the mystery of night. She IS the moon, symbolizing the sacred feminine, what the mystics call the “gift of knowledge” or “eternal knowing.” Today we call this gift intuition.
One of my favorite quotes illustrating the High Priestess is via one of my spiritual mentors, Carl Jung, in his sublime memoir Memories, Dreams and Reflections: “I early arrived at the insight that when no answer comes from within to the problems and complexities of life, they ultimately mean very little. Outward circumstances are no substitute for inner experience.”
The High Priestess indicates a time to take a step back from the busy jungle of life, and go within. Intuition is your greatest ally. Getting in touch with your intuition requires quieting the mind, getting out of your head and communing with your soul, you deeper self. Meditation, ritual and deep contemplation is encouraged now.
Know that all the answers to the problems and questions in life will not come from outside sources or recognition, but from your own inner wisdom.
If you’re struggling, connect with your higher guides, angels and spiritual mentors and ask for what you need now: “Ask and you shall receive” is a powerful vibration, and one associated with this card. Although you are taking time to commune with yourself…know that you are never alone!
