The Lovers ~ Birds of a Feather...
Tarot Tuesday! The card for the week is The Lovers, representing: Relationships, transformation, union and choice. Alas, the journey of The Lovers isn’t necessarily a romantic one, it’s after the honeymoon, the time when things get real, a crossroads moment, where choices are before you, and you must decide: Just how committed are you?
This card indicates a time where your relationships truly become a mirror to your soul. We all know the old axiom: “To love another you must love yourself”, and although true, The Lovers card is more about self-discovery through the relationships in your life. This card is about growth. Just as Earth Life is a school for our souls, The Lovers, is the consummate school, the place where we learn the most about your deepest self and desires.
We can’t talk about The Lovers without talking about love…so what is love? Astrologer Richard Idemon describes it as a “force that brings two or more separate entities together in a way that they are totally transformed.” Eros is deep and passionate love—a creative force. Through Eros we create life. And in its presence, from the heights of intimacy, to the lows of longing and despair, we are transformed.
For singletons, this card is an invitation to open your heart to new relationships. For those in partnership, it is an invitation to dig in deeper, and embrace your vulnerability. For all, this is an invitation to let go of expectations, knowing there is no such thing as a “perfect” relationship or love. Ultimately, this is a moment to decide what you want to experience in relationships.
The Lovers mantra: I am now ready to meet and embrace the partner I’ve always longed for.
This card image is from The Wild Unknown Tarot, an amazing deck. I love how the author shows two geese flying together into the light. It is said, that geese do mate for life.
