The Hanged Man ~ Surrender is a Beautiful Thing!
Tarot Tuesday! The card for the week is the Hanged Man, representing: Surrender, disillusionment, suspension, and perspective. Have you ever had one of those days (weeks, months…) when whatever you do, it never seems quite good enough? You try your hardest, yet, somehow nothing seems to fall into place? This is the energy of the Hanged Man, a time where you declare: “Stick a fork in me, I’m done!” Or in more spiritual terms, where you decide to turn things over and trust a power greater than yourself.
The Hanged Man is stuck, hanging upside down. He has realized that there is nothing more he can do in this moment. He is in a state of suspension. Once, his feet where on the ground—representing, a material or earth-bound reality, and now they are in the air—indicating a spiritual or higher reality. He has chosen to relinquish control, and open himself to a new way of looking at things. He has surrendered to a different perspective, even though it is not clear to him in the moment. He is not defeated; he has actively yielded his will towards something greater and currently unknown.
When the Hanged Man comes your way, it is a time to “let go, and let God,” or the Divine, your Angels, a higher power, wherever you feel the most connected and aligned. This requires you to suspend your current beliefs about how life should work. Perfection is an old, tired illusion, and the more open you are to a new perspective, the more insight will come.
The Hanged Man offers both transformation and illumination. He is a reminder that you are never a victim to your life circumstances, and warns of defeatism and playing the martyr. You have choices, even if that means learning to trust the flow. All else is the Hanged Man’s folly.
Wishing you a week of beautiful surrender!
