Paris and Me!
Paris and Me!
I’m home from a magical trip to Paris, filled with many memories of my time in the City of Light. Paris is sooo beautiful, undescribably exquisite, from the architecture to the statues (everywhere), to the museums and food and dress. As I walked through a city side-street, there was a statue of Voltaire! Then golden lions framing the entrance to a bridge on the Seine, and angels with trumpets in a garden square.
And oooh la la…the shopping in Paris is tres fabulous! I used the excuse that it was my birthday, and so each purchase became a birthday present (silly justification, I know!) and I came away with many treasures. One of my favorite purchases is this rose quartz necklace, which I found in a flea market on an (almost) hidden side street on my way to visit the Louvre. As a Libra, rose quartz is one of my stones, and when I told the shop proprietor that it was my birthday, he knocked off 30 Euros! It is unique, according to him, because of its elongated shape.
Another magical moment came on my last day in Paris, the actual day of my birthday. I was walking to the Eiffel Tower, and out of the corner of my eye I saw a man bend down, exclaim and pick something up. Intrigued, I turned and he was holding a gold ring. He held it up and I smiled at him, excited for his “find”. I was about to turn away, and he held out the ring to me, saying something like: “Why not? You should have it.” Of course, I declined, but he insisted, and I took it. It is a beautiful gold ring (probably part brass) and I slipped it on my finger.
What’s funny is, a few days before I was looking at rings in a shop and saw one very similar to this very ring, but didn’t buy it because it felt too extravagant! Now that I’ve had time to study it, I can see it has an engraved symbol on the inside that I can’t quite make out, but I will take it to a jeweler soon to find out.
As I walked away, the man did call me back and asked for 10 Euros to buy cigarettes. I gave him 30. All in all, the most magical birthday ever!
