Rare Christmas Day Full Moon!

This is the first full moon that has dawned on Christmas Day since 1977—and will not reoccur until 2034—adding a rare, special energy to this most Holy day. The Full Moon in its native sign of Cancer, illuminates the realm of home and hearth, offering a familiar, celebratory vibe. Lunar energies are at their strongest now, greatly influencing emotions, the deeper subconscious, dreams and intuition.

A Full Moon in Cancer can be extra sensitive, fertile ground for getting your feelings hurt—especially around family/relationships. Watch for emotional over-eating, as a way of compensating for unfulfilled expectations. But hey, it’s the holidays and wouldn’t be complete without a little drama. A therapist friend once said to me, do all the work you can, then go home--and the final work begins!

This moon requires you to be mindful about taking care of yourself. Some of us are lucky enough to have family around us—drama included--and for others, it’s finding your way into new heart-based relationships and soul family. Staying heart-focused during this lunar period, offers great opportunity for healing, emotional insight and spiritual illumination.

Wishing you and yours a joyful, peaceful and illuminating Christmas!

Unlocking the Cancer New Moon!

Yesterday’s New Moon in Cancer was…interesting. I woke up early, ready to embrace the new energies of the day, had a lovely full client schedule, went to let my doggie Sophie outside--and my front door would not open! Completely stuck. The doorknob was jammed, locked up, unmovable!

Immediately I thought of the connection—Cancer rules the home, and my doorway/entrance to my home was blocked! What did that mean? Am I stuck?

So throughout the day, I ushered clients in through my backdoor—feeling rather strange about it all. Was I taking a backdoor to life?

Luckily my handyman neighbor (a gem) was able to come and unstick my door. And I have a NEW doorknob coming. Perhaps a new beginning after all!

But this felt more than new moon energy. Something else was going on. So when I looked deeper into the astro, I realized that the new moon in Cancer formed a direct square (representing challenges) to Uranus in Aries. Uranus is the planet of unexpected changes, breakthroughs, and can be disruptive, accident prone, especially in Aries.

So, if your New Moon energies came in unexpected ways, blame it on Uranus! (And remember, we usually experience lunar energies a few days before and after.) Today the Moon goes into Leo, which should bring a more Sunny energy to our mist, a whole different vibe than the sometimes moody, crabby Crab!

This pic is the view from my front door, sans doorknob…I’m looking forward to my new doorknob, a new beginning to my space, and am ready to turn the key to a new view. #TotallyWorkingTheMetaphor!

Happy Birthday Cancer!

“Are you feeling down? Come over, I’ll cook you dinner. We’ll hang out and you’ll feel better.” Ahh…Cancers are always there when we need you the most! Crabs are first and foremost nurturers and caretakers--this is what makes your world go round! But, you’re no pushover, especially when it comes to taking charge and making things happen. You can be extremely stubborn about getting your way, tenacious to a fault and yes—even bossy!

You’re ruling planet is the Moon, and your emotions are vast and deep, and your moods can shift with the tides. You are highly intuitive, even psychic, and often receive much information in your dreams. The dream realm is important to you and keeping a dream journal may offer great insight.

You’re traditional and deeply rooted in your family life. You relish the known and security, and don’t like to venture outside of your comfort zones; too much change can make you crabby! Yet when you open yourself to new horizons you’re often surprised at the results, especially in how they can move your life forward in a productive way!

What people don’t often know about you is, that’s you’re very good at business. In fact, you could be quite successful creating your own business enterprise. Still, at the end of the day, you’re happiest at home, in your pajamas, enjoying a good movie, and a bottle of vintage red wine…or some Ben and Jerry’s ice cream—all the better to nurture yourself!

Your Sunny Side: Generous, loyal, enterprising, intuitive, practical and protective.

Your Shadow Side: Controlling, moody, not dealing/denial, over-emotional/sensitive, change aversive.
