Tarot Tuesday! The card for the week is the Queen of Wands, representing: Wisdom, compassion, creativity and transformation. The Queen of Wands has mastered self-knowledge. She has looked deeply into her own nature, which has led to a transformation of her being. This image is from my new collage Tarot deck, tentatively entitled “Luminous Threads: Finding the Soul of Your Inner Muse”. I created her while on my recent retreat to Orcas Island, and was not surprised that she appeared as the card of the week!
I love this story associated with the Queen of Wands: “At one time, she had black hair, and the panther her companion, had black fur. The transformation she underwent left her with golden blond hair, and turned the panther into a lion. However, her knowledge of her former condition filled her with compassion for those creative souls not yet freed. In order to be able to help others, she chooses to wear reddish-brown hair, and keeps the lion in form of a leopard, whose black spots bear witness to the darkness of her past.” Gerd Ziegler—Tarot: Mirror of the Soul.
(For my Queen of Wands, I also included a few foxes as her totem. They are hidden in the image—can you spot them?)
Another description of the Queen of Wands comes from my friend, also one of my favorite students of the Tarot: “To me, she is the Fire Queen, the epitome of feminine strength. Ruling from the head and heart, in balance…the anima and animus beautifully combined. She is an inspiration to me, to go inside and find my inner Queen of Wands, grab her hand, and channel her loving, wise strength.”
This week the Queen of Wands says "Brava!", congratulating you on your recent transformations—big and small. Cultivate her wisdom, find your inner-strength and share your knowledge and compassion with others.
