The Hierophant/Full Moon in Sagittarius ~ Exploring Sacred Knowledge

Tarot Tuesday! The card for the week is The Hierophant, representing: Spiritual community, ritual, sacred mystery, teaching and knowledge!

The Hierophant is a perfect fit for this week (hello reflective Mercury Retrograde!), and this day in particular as it’s also a Full Moon in Sagittarius, all leading to the desire to dig in deeper and explore spiritual knowledge!

The Hierophant is the archetype of wise teacher and mentor. I often describe him as a "Merlin"—the mythological wizard who guided young King Arthur to the throne of Camelot. Merlin was a magician, also architect, prophet, bard and healer. His gifts were multifaceted and far-reaching.   

Merlin followed the “old ways”, the ancient pagan or Druid sects that worshipped the Goddess and the earth. Merlin possessed many gifts, perhaps most notably his ability to connect to, and understand the magic inherent within all of us.

The Hierophant is a reminder that the sacred is all around us, and manifests itself in our daily human interaction, if we are open to it. That each person can be a spiritual teacher for every other person.

The Sag Full Moon today highlights our inner-Merlin, our desire to discover and explore the mysteries of life and ultimately share them with others. Sagittarius is the ultimate teacher and seeker of knowledge! The key to the sacred mystery (The Raven) comes from the willingness to explore the dark reaches of the psyche and the unknown, trusting there’s a treasure trove of great wisdom there!
