The Devil ~ Make Friends with Your Shadow Side!

Tarot Tuesday! The card for the week is the Devil, representing: Fear, control, power-struggles, creativity and transmutation. The Devil presents both a sexy and frightening image. As it should be, for this card represents an awakening to your shadow side—your cardinal desires, deepest longings and most basic instincts. This is powerful, creative medicine! Yet, like poisonous snake bite, your desires can either “kill” you, enslaving you to your obsessions and fear-based behaviors, or bring healing as you learn to transmute these energies in a healthy way. 

 The Devil card has nothing to do with evil, rather it is calling you to explore the parts of yourself that bring fear or make you feel out-of-control. By doing so, you can reclaim your power. Ultimately, the Devil encourages you to make friends with your demons and bring them into the light of self-acceptance!

The Devil Card ~ The Heck with it...Let's Have Some Fun!

Tarot Tuesday! The card for the week is The Devil, representing: Creativity, vitality, humor and sexuality. The Devil is perhaps the most misunderstood card of the Tarot deck, often bringing to mind images of beastly creatures, Satan worship and dark magic. But if we free ourselves of superstitious and moralistic beliefs, we can see the devil for what he truly is: A highly creative, powerful and transformative energy.

The Devil asks: “Are you afraid of your own power?” The Devil represents fear. Plain and simple. When we realize how much our fears—of the unknown, our creativity, our sexuality, our individuality etc.—rob us of our power and the ability to live life to the fullest, then we can begin to embrace this wickedly fun, rouge, rascal.

Step One: Make friends with your fear. Whatever you fear the most, grab ahold of it, talk to it, and learn to love it. Your fear is a big part of who you are, and when you’re no longer scared of it—it will set you free in ways you never dreamed possible!  

Step Two: Enjoy life to the Fullest. Easier said than done. This is often a control issue, a fear of relinquishing control to the unknown. Once you let go of worrying about outcomes, doing the right thing, getting into trouble…then life becomes a wonderland to be experienced and enjoyed.  

Step Three: Get a Sense of Humor. A story: There were two monks, one happy and one sad. The sad monk asked the happy monk how he was doing with the dictate of being “celibate”. The happy monk laughed and said: “Brother, you have misunderstood, the dictate was to “celebrate”! As it is truly said: Laughter is the best medicine, and puts much into perspective.

This week, dance with the devil, make friends with your fears, and enjoy life to the fullest. This is where true power lies!

The Devil ~ Time To Dance With Your Dark Side!

Tarot Tuesday! The card for the week is The Devil, representing: Sexuality, creativity, shadows and fear. The Devil is perhaps the most misunderstood card of the deck, its very presence evoking images of black magic, witchcraft--even evil. But if you can look past all the superstitious mumbo-jumbo, you will recognize a powerful life force, a transformative energy that can only come from embracing your dark side!

So what is the dark side? It is the most hidden parts of yourself, the aspects of your being that you don’t feel comfortable and constantly wrestle with. It could be guilt, shame, obsession, addiction…it’s your shadow…the parts of you that make you feel out of control. Yet, it’s within the darkness element of your being that you will see your truest self…and ultimately your power!

This can be scary stuff. But if you’re willing to look at your personal devils, your inner demons, to face your deepest fears, you find that they have no power over you. It is said—Never lock the devil in a closet, for it will find a way to escape and bite you when you least expect it!

This week, take a dance with your dark side. Look your devils squarely in the face, and let them liberate you!
