Celebrate the Winter Solstice Tonight!
The Solstice is a magical, contemplative time, a sacred night of spiritual reconnection and communion. The winter solstice marks the shortest day and the longest night of the year, when the sun is at its lowest arc in the sky. The Winter Solstice holds the symbolic energy of death and renewal, a time of gratitude for the coming light and the end of darkness.
Traditionally the winter solstice is a time of turning inward, into the darkness, the depths of the unknown, and let intuition be your guiding light. This is a powerful time for ritual. As the sun sets, turn off your lights and –Eeek!—electronic devises. Light candles and spend the evening reflecting on what has been and what will be. Write down what you would like to experience, to manifest next in your life. This is the perfect moment to set intentions for the New Near.
Then, write down what you want to release. Say a prayer of gratitude for lessons given and then offer your statement to the candle fire and let it burn: “Goddess, I am grateful for all that I’ve learned, and release that which no longer serves my journey. Let there be light.”
Wishing you an illuminating Winter Solstice!
