The Hermit ~ Finding the Wise Teacher Within
Tarot Tuesday! The card for the week is the Hermit, representing: Patience, wisdom, faith and solitude. The Hermit is the archetype of Old Soul and Wise Teacher. His presence calls us to embark on a solitary, yet profound journey of self-discovery. He travels through the night forest, representing the dark corners of our psyche and the unknown. Above him is a shooting star, illuminating and inspiring his journey.
The Hermit is a seeker of knowledge and wisdom. These are two different things—knowledge comes from books, whereas wisdom comes from the heart. The road to wisdom can be a difficult path, for true wisdom comes from the hard lessons and experience of time.
When the Hermit comes your way, it is a time to seek solitude. To go within and connect to your own inner wisdom. You may feel the need to disconnect from the world, relationships, and your outward life for a while, to focus on your inner journey. This can be a fruitful time.
The shadow side of the Hermit is isolation. The Hermit is a reminder that guides and teachers are all around us. Now is a time where you may be inspired you to seek guidance from other wise masters: trusted teachers, new learning situations, angels, spirit guides, or that wise friend who appears when you need them the most!
I created my Hermit with the character of Merlin, the Magician from the Arthurian Legends, in mind. Merlin guided King Arthur to the throne and was known not only as a magician, but an architect, prophet, bard and healer. Merlin, like the Hermit possesses many gifts, perhaps most notably, the ability to connect to the magic inherent in nature.
Wishing you a week of magic and wisdom!
