This month the focus is on grounding, as we’re all looking for ways to stay present to what’s happening in the world while not getting overwhelmed by all the craziness! This is a process of balance and discernment. I recently read an interview with spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle (author of The Power of Nowand A New Earth) saying that he believes we should only check-in with the news media every two weeks or so, and not on a daily basis. (Or for some of us, an hourly basis!) This way we can stay in touch with the “real” world, while not defining our reality on the often negative stuff that the media loves to present. Something to think about.
If you are a sensitive and empath like me, it’s important to find ways to negotiate the collective anxiety that is happening now. One of the most helpful tools I have found is a regular mediation process. Taking a few minutes each day to breathe deeply into your body, ground and align with your higher spiritual self. It doesn’t need to be lengthy or hard.
Now more than ever, we are creating our reality in each moment. If you feel called to actively participate in politics or different movements, then by all means do so! Your presence can make a huge difference. But, also consider whether your motivation is coming from a place of true calling, or is a distraction from focusing on what you need to do to bring your own life into balance. As they say, it all starts at home.
Personally, I feel that the most powerful thing I can do right now is to try and set an example by living a balanced, spiritual life. We all have different callings, so follow yours with intention and discernment. Because, at the end of the day, it takes a village of souls following our destinies to transform the planet!
