Rare Christmas Day Full Moon!

This is the first full moon that has dawned on Christmas Day since 1977—and will not reoccur until 2034—adding a rare, special energy to this most Holy day. The Full Moon in its native sign of Cancer, illuminates the realm of home and hearth, offering a familiar, celebratory vibe. Lunar energies are at their strongest now, greatly influencing emotions, the deeper subconscious, dreams and intuition.

A Full Moon in Cancer can be extra sensitive, fertile ground for getting your feelings hurt—especially around family/relationships. Watch for emotional over-eating, as a way of compensating for unfulfilled expectations. But hey, it’s the holidays and wouldn’t be complete without a little drama. A therapist friend once said to me, do all the work you can, then go home--and the final work begins!

This moon requires you to be mindful about taking care of yourself. Some of us are lucky enough to have family around us—drama included--and for others, it’s finding your way into new heart-based relationships and soul family. Staying heart-focused during this lunar period, offers great opportunity for healing, emotional insight and spiritual illumination.

Wishing you and yours a joyful, peaceful and illuminating Christmas!

Happy Yuletide ~ Winter Solstice and Capricorn New Moon!

New Moon in Capricorn/Winter Solstice December 21st: (4:03pm PST)

Happy Yuletide! The Winter Solstice, or Yule, is a time of ritual and celebration, a time to honor the passing of seasons, from the blustery, changing winds of autumn into the sleepy dreams of winter.

The Winter Solstice is the shortest day and the longest night. A time where the sun (the symbolic male) is at it’s weakest, and gives its power to the mysteries of the moon (divine feminine). Then, the Sun’s light begins to grow again, reaching its full strength at the Summer Solstice. A process symbolizing the spiritual self as it goes from inner darkness and reflection into light and new beginnings.

This is a time of symbolic death and rebirth, endings, completion and transformation. The tradition-loving New Moon in Capricorn, adds a sense of reverence and gravitas to this event, reminding us of our limited time on the planet, that life itself is ephemeral. This is a time to celebrate each and every moment. To give a big hug to those nearest and dearest. To let go of the past and prepare for the future and new beginnings. 2015 is just around the corner!

Wishing you much light and joy, and that St. Nick put’s some goodies in your stocking!
